My research focuses on in vitro modeling to functionally study the disturbed stromal health in COPD. We are developing a 3D organoid model to assess cellular crosstalk within the microenvironment, with a particular interest in lung mesenchymal stromal cells (LMSC). LMSCs are known to secrete key factors involved in tissue repair, immune modulation, and epithelial support, and may therefore contribute in alveolar regeneration. Additionally, we aim to identify key interactions that influence alveolar repair and explore potential therapeutic targets to restore stromal health.
