Research
My research investigates the underlying mechanisms of persistent acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS) in critically ill patients, in close collaboration with Dr. Janesh Pillay (Critical Care) and Professor Janette Burgess (Pathology and Medical Biology).
Using a translational approach, we employ a combination of advanced techniques, including single-cell RNA sequencing (scRNAseq), flow cytometry, advanced molecular imaging, and PET/CT imaging. Our studies focus on interpreting the intricate interplay between the inflammatory microenvironment (comprising immune cells and cytokines) and tissue remodeling processes (involving the extracellular matrix and fibroblasts). Ultimately, we aim to translate these findings into improved therapeutic strategies and enhanced patient care for critically ill patients suffering from persistent lung failure.
