Fibulin-1 (FBLN-1) is a secreted glycoprotein that is associated with ECM formation and rebuilding. LTBPs are components of the extracellular matrix and most of them are responsible for the storage of latent TGF-b in the ECM.Osteoprotegin (OPG) is produced by osteoblasts and acts as a soluble natural decoy receptor for RANKL (receptor activator of NF-κB ligand) and TRAIL(tumor related apoptosis inducing ligand) There were researches stated that the Fbln1c bound to latent TGF-β–binding protein 1 (LTBP1) to induce TGF-β activation and mediated downstream Smad3 phosphorylation/signaling in lung tissues from patients with IPF.OPG is also investigated that could be a regulator in liver fibrosis and have a relationship with fibulin-1 in pulmonary fibrosis. This project aims to look out the role of Fibulin-1 and OPG in regulating fibrosis and inflammation in chronic lung diseases.
